A gift will benefit teens in crisis in Ashland, Talent, and Phoenix
Philanthropy Director, Kathleen Mackris, has been working to advance the mission of ACHF for over 12 years. For Kathleen, this work has been a labor of love. When the foundation expanded its giving opportunities to include special named funds, she wanted to be among the first to make a gift that not only benefited the health of the community but was also personally meaningful to her.
Kathleen chose to establish a field of interest fund, to support a specific health-related area of need that she feels passionate about. She did so through careful estate planning which allowed her to make a gift now and include a bequest from her IRA to benefit the fund after her death.
Through her gift, she established the Mackris Groveman Fund, which will support efforts to meet the immediate needs of teens in crisis in Ashland, Talent, and Phoenix.
Her late husband, Steve Groveman, was the former deputy director of Community Works and saw first-hand the needs of teens in our community through his work with them.
Kathleen shared that “this fund is a deeply meaningful way for me to honor Steve and support the foundation and community I love. I’m so happy I can make a difference in the lives of teens in need now and in the future.”
We are grateful to Kathleen for the thoughtful parting gift she has made to ACHF in support of local teens.
