A project two years in the making has been brought to completion thanks to the generosity of Bob Holbrook.
The hospital cafeteria at Asante Ashland Community Hospital has always been a place where patients, visitors, and employees alike have come to eat. For employees, it is also a place where they can take a reprieve from their hectic jobs.
Bob demonstrated his appreciation for hospital employees over the years by funding several staff breakroom remodels, including the Family Birth Center, Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical Unit, and the Lab. According to Bob the Ashland hospital cafeteria serves as the ultimate breakroom and is the icing on the cake.
The project was initially delayed due to the pandemic. The transformation came to completion in early September, and the space now has the look and feel of an intimate café. The cost was more than $223,700 and includes new floor coverings, paint, furniture, lighting, cabinetry, reconfiguration of space to make it more efficient, and more.
Sadly, Bob passed away earlier this year and while he was unable to see the final project, he was delighted to watch the progress and was proud to know it would soon be completed.
