Caring Connects Us
Giving
A special community cause
Each year, the Ashland Community Health Foundation spotlights a pressing health care need in our community.
This year, our organization is prioritizing the School Nurse Program at the Ashland and Phoenix-Talent School Districts. We invite you to support this vital work and connect your caring directly to students who need it most.

Recognizing the need
Everyday school nurses are there when it matters most, managing type 1 diabetes, supporting students through health crises, guiding families through new diagnoses, and responding to daily emergencies.
School nurses in the Ashland and Phoenix-Talent School Districts serve over 4,700 students each year. The nurses respond to asthma attacks and diabetic crises to seizures and mental health emergencies. They manage chronic conditions for hundreds of students and serve as a safety net for our most vulnerable children.
Across both districts this work is done by three nurses. They do incredible work with the resources they have providing direct care, and training other staff members across the district so students are protected even when a nurse isn’t physically present. However, school budgets are stretched thin.

“School nurses are essential to student success. They are often the first to identify health concerns, respond to emergencies, manage chronic conditions, and remove barriers to learning, ensuring students are safe, healthy, and ready to succeed. Investing in school nursing is an investment in the children and families of Ashland, Talent, and Phoenix, and in the care and connection that strengthen our communities.”
– Tiffanie Lambert, PhD, Assistant Superintendent, Phoenix-Talent School District
Making a difference
Together, we want to ensure that every child has access to the health care they need to help them learn, grow, and thrive. Your gift will support this vital work in the following ways:
- Needed upgrades to technology and furnishings in school health rooms
- Enhanced education for all staff to help provide coverage across schools, especially in emergency situations
- Expanded programs for diabetes, suicide prevention, and addiction education
- Coordinated prevention efforts, including vision and dental screenings, and referrals for follow-up care for students in need

Be a champion for school nurses
Ashland Community Health Foundation has supported the School Nurse program for over two decades. School nurses are often the first provider a child sees, and they frequently catch what others miss. Investing in them means investing in every child’s ability to learn, grow, and thrive.
Your support ensures nurses have what they need to care for any child who walks through their door.
