ACHF’s Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse Scholarship
ACHF supports registered nurses seeking Hospice and Palliative Care certification (CHPN.) If you are a registered nurse working in hospice and palliative care and are interested in being certified, please view the FAQ to find out more about applying.

We’re supporting our valley’s Hospice and Palliative Care nurses
The Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse (CHPN) scholarship provides financial assistance to qualified registered nurses who work in the Rogue Valley and want to pursue their CHPN.
This certification will help nurses:
- Sharpen skills and knowledge in areas not utilized daily
- Recommit to excellence and expertise in the area of practice
- Increase competence and confidence in practice
- Gain recognition from peers and others in the field through title and credentialing

Applications are open through October 31, with deadlines based on your testing schedule.

How are the scholarships awarded?
Awards will be made in the form of a voucher to CHPN® | HPCC for exam fees.
What are the application guidelines?
- Review the CHPN web site at CHPN® | HPCC to see if you qualify to take the exam.
- Scholarships are for new CHPN certifications. Existing CHPN’s seeking renewal are currently not eligible.
- Submit your application through ACHF’s scholarship portal during the application window.
- Once you submit your application, you will receive an email confirmation. If you do not receive an email confirmation, please contact our office at scholarships@achfoundation.org or call 541-482-0367 x4.
What are the eligibility requirements for the CHPN exam?
- Hold a current, unrestricted registered nurse license in the United States, its territories, or the equivalent in Canada.
- Must have hospice and palliative nursing practice of 500 hours in the most recent 12 months or 1,000 hours in the most recent 24 months prior to applying for the examination.
When is the application window open?
We accept applications from February 1 through October 31, with deadlines based on your testing date as follows:
- January 31 for March testing
- April 30 for June testing
- July 31 for September testing
- October 31 for December testing
Can I start my application now and save it for later?
Yes! Applicants are given the option to save and continue at a later time.
What information is required?
Applicants will need to provide their nursing license number, employer name, and their date of testing.
Do I need to attach documents?
No, there are no required documents for this application.
When are scholarships awarded?
Award decisions are made on a rolling basis throughout the year. Applicants can expect to receive a response within 60 days of applying. All applicants will receive an email from the Ashland Community Health Foundation notifying them of the funding decision.
What if my contact information changes after I submit my application?
Applicants can update their profile in the application portal. Once logged in, select your name in the upper right corner and click Edit Profile.
