Our Impact grants are made possible by generous donors who care deeply about special causes, such as palliative and end-of-life care, support for teens in crisis, and more.
Impact Grants
Each area of interest has its own specific goals and organizations are encouraged to review each area to better understand the scope of each fund.
Below you will find a list of available funds, eligibility, how to apply, and more.
Chuck Butler Memorial Aquatics Fund
To support direct services, new program development, or facilities that make it possible to provide water sports and activities to children and youth.
Community Care Fund
To partner with other organizations that provide health care services and programs for those in need.
The Dave Kitchell Fund
Established by the Kitchell Family to help alleviate barriers to participation in sports for student athletes. The fund supports sports-related opportunities including scholarships, equipment, uniforms, training for coaches, travel for competitions, and more. This fund is not yet available, please check back in the summer of 2024.
Mackris Groveman Fund
To support teens in crisis.
Palliative & End-of-Life Care Fund
To support services for individuals and families impacted by a serious or terminal illness.
The application window is open March 15 to October 1.
Funding priority
Impact grants support health and wellness projects that create and/or expand access to services and programs in Ashland, Talent, and Phoenix. Preference is also given to programs and projects that demonstrate clear and measurable impact on improving the social determinants of health.
Grants will not be made for the following purposes:
- Debt retirement or operational deficits
- General fund/annual operating dollars
- Events and sponsorships
- Projects that have already been completed
- Projects with a fiscal agent
Eligibility
To be eligible for funding an organization must meet the following criteria:
- Be a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that is classified as a public charity under section 509(a) 1 or 2 of the United States tax code or have a nonprofit 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor with a documented agreement.
- Groups or projects with a fiscal sponsor must include a copy of their memorandum of understanding or a letter signed by the fiscal sponsor’s executive director or board president in their application.
- The administrative fee taken by the fiscal sponsor shall not exceed 10%.
- Serve the Ashland, Talent, and/or Phoenix populations.
- Agree to and maintain a nondiscrimination policy that does not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, color, sex, religion, age, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, disability, marital status, genetic information, veteran status, and other factors protected by law.
- The program or service is secular and does not proselytize or witness to clients.
- Organizations awarded a Community Health & Wellness Grant cannot also apply for an Impact Grant in the same calendar year.
- Organizations that applied for a Community Health & Wellness Grant and were declined can apply for an Impact Grant in the same calendar year if the request is for a different project.
How to apply
- Review the foundation’s eligibility and guidelines carefully.
- Login or create an account for the ACHF online application system.
- Complete the entire application and submit it using the online system.
- Foundation staff may contact you if additional information is needed to process your application.
- Final decisions will be made in 1 to 4 months.
- If you have a time sensitive request that falls outside of the application window, please email stephanie.roland@achfoundation.org.
Final reports
Final grant reports are due between 6 and 12 months after the award date. Interim progress reports may also be assigned.
Frequently Asked Questions
My organization received a grant last year, can I apply again this year?
Yes. However, it is unlikely that organizations will be funded every year and should not rely on ACHF as a source of annual revenue.
What are the required attachments?
- IRS 501(c)3 Determination Letter
This letter is an official document issued to eligible nonprofit organizations by the IRS. View a sample letter here. - Project Budget
The project budget is required and needs to include expenses and anticipated revenue sources to fully fund the project. You may use your own budget form or use the sample budget form template provided.
Can I Submit Multiple Applications?
No. In a calendar year an organization can receive either a Community Health & Wellness grant or an Impact grant.
If your organization applied for an Impact grant and was declined, please do not reapply in the same calendar year for a different Impact grant.
If your organization applied for a Community Health & Wellness grant and was declined, you can apply for an Impact grant in the same calendar year if it is for a different project.
ACHF looks at each request and evaluates the best possible funding source.
