Recognizing decades of support to the foundation and the community
ACHF was delighted to honor Linda Butler at the annual Celebration of Donors on September 20, 2025. Linda has quietly shaped health care in our community for more than four decades, with generosity and unwavering commitment.
Linda’s journey with the foundation began in the 1980’s, when she and her late husband, Chuck Butler, made their first philanthropic gift to ACHF. Their initial act of generosity grew into a lifelong commitment to support their local hospital and the health of the community.
Over the years, they made numerous contributions together, but they didn’t always follow the same path. Chuck’s service to the foundation spanned several decades, including time as board president. He was honored for his distinguished service in 1994. Linda’s formal volunteer service with ACHF began in 2007 when she joined the Evans Nursing Scholarship Committee. It was there that she poured over applications to ensure ACHF selected the candidates that best met the vision of the Evans Family.
In 2018, Linda joined the board of directors, and as a CPA, she was a natural fit for the role of treasurer. As treasurer, she served on the Asset Management and Executive Committees. She also spent time on the Development Committee helping to raise funds for ACHF and the hospital; all while continuing her service on the Evans Scholarship Committee until she stepped down in 2022.
Linda has also served as a board member of Ashland Community Hospital, the Ashland Family YMCA, and Community Works. She’s been a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, team mom, and served on several committees with her church.
In addition to her volunteer work with ACHF, she and Chuck shared their work life as business owners of the Butler Automotive Group until they retired in 2021. Through their business, they supported countless organizations with charitable gifts.
Today, she continues to be a champion for ACHF, as she extends her support to the Chuck Butler Memorial Aquatics Endowment, an endowment started by her daughter, Alexi (Butler) McCullough and son-in-law, Jeff McCullough, to support access to aquatics sports and activities for children and youth in the community.
Linda’s humility has been as remarkable as her generosity, never seeking recognition, and preferring to let the work speak for itself. It is with deep gratitude that we honor her extraordinary leadership, generosity, and unwavering commitment with the 2024 Distinguished Service Award.
